Here is an example of the fireplaces of the terralux/biscuit built houses in Carlisle Park, Ballynahinch. This was the state of my own fireplace - located in the dividing or party wall between No's 56/58 Carlisle Park, Ballynahinch - when the builder I had engaged to deal with my smoke nuisance into my other neighbour's home in No. 58 Carlisle Park, Ballynahinch removed my fireplace and back boiler. My builder replaced all the terralux blocks/biscuits shown here with proper concrete blocks in order to allow the owners of No. 58 to sell their house. The I engaged a Belfast contractor to reline my chimney flue to complete this part of the job which should already have been done. My builder then closed up my fireplace completely and I installed oil-fired central heating until 'further notice'!
Here is a photo taken shortly after the above photo was taken and after my builder removed more of the rubbish material with which my fireplace was constructed. The angled wooden lath supporting the staircase inside No. 58 Carlisle Park, Ballynahinch was exposed and was scorched by my fire inside No. 56 Carlisle Park, Ballynahinch. It seems that this was discovered and dealt with by my builder in time to prevent No. 58 from being burnt down!
Here is a photo of the dividing or party wall between No's 54 and 56 Carlisle Park, Ballynahinch after part of my half of the dividing/party wall had been removed. The smoke blackened terralux blocks/biscuits can be clearly seen through which the smoke polluting the living area of our home in No. 56 Carlisle Park was conducted. Not only did my neighbour in No. 54 Carlisle Park, who was a full-time fireman, refuse to stop his fire smoke from polluting us but he even refused to allow me to pay for repairing his fireplace and flue just as I had repaired mine with a loan I had arranged to obtain from the Nationwide Building Society.
